GSatMicro Parameter Definitions
Of the multitude of GSatMicro’s great features, its configuration settings provide the most options for customization of the product and its usage scenarios. Each of the following configuration settings can be customized (as indicated, if there is any kind of range restriction). Each of these settings will have an effect on the performance, reporting nature, or battery life of the GSatMicro, and can be configured through any normal means of interfacing with your device.

Parameters: GPS
GPS HDOP
Horizontal Dilution of Precision refers to the location accuracy of the device and its measurements to a given confidence interval. The lower the HDOP, the better the confidence in the location being reported. Default requirement is 20, range 10-500, values are determined by considering standard HDOP values and multiplying by 10. For example, for the best HDOP available (1), configure the device to require 10 for its HDOP value.
GPS Settle
This setting refers to the number of seconds to settle GPS coordinates after getting a fix (defaults to 15).
GPS Timeout
Number of seconds before failing an attempt to get a GPS fix, default is 120 seconds, but can be set to any number greater than 0.
GPS Hibernate with Sleep
When on: hibernates the GPS for faster initialization from sleep mode. When off: turns GPS off when the device is in sleep mode, conserves battery life. Default is off (0), to turn it on, set value to 1.
GPS Always On
When on: GPS remains active and tracking after receiving a position and fix. When off: GPS goes to sleep or powers off after receiving a position and fix. Default is on (1), to turn it off, set value to 0.
Parameters: Iridium
Iridium TX Retries
Frequency and configuration for when to try to transmit again after fail. If the report transmission fails, use this to configure your attempts to resend the transmission. Default is 3 tries, range is any number greater than 0.
Iridium Radio Awake
Keeps radio awake at all times to receive commands and transmissions, default 0 (off), set to 1 to enable.
Iridium TX Timeout
Like GPS Timeout, determines amount of elapsed time before failing an attempt to report a transmission through Iridium, default is 60, range is numbers greater than 0.
Iridium Signal Timeout
Like GPS Timeout, determines amount of elapsed time before failing an attempt to connect with Iridium, default is 60, range is numbers greater than 0.
Parameters: Reporting
Normal Reporting Interval
Set the time between reports, in seconds, default is 900 seconds, range is any number greater than 0.
Alert Interval with Sleep
This allows you to configure the number of seconds to sleep in alert mode between reporting intervals, default is 300 seconds, range is effectively unlimited, but must be a minimum of 1 if configured.
Sleep When Powered
Sets the behavior of whether the device will enter sleep mode when plugged into a power source. Default value 0 (sleeps when plugged in), set to 1 to turn off sleep mode when the device is plugged in.
Sleep With Battery
If using battery power alone, the device will sleep between reporting intervals or until woken up by the user in order to preserve battery life. Default is on (1), to turn off and have device not sleep on battery power, switch value to 0. Requires version 4 or later.
Moving Interval Sleep
Seconds to sleep when the device is in moving mode, default value is 900 seconds, range is any number greater than 0.
Moving Threshold Speed
Sets the meters/second threshold for switching the device into moving mode, but will only be activated if the GPS is on. Default is 0, range is any number 0 or greater, set to 0 to disable the feature.
External Power Sleep
Set the number of seconds to sleep between intervals while the device is plugged into an external power source. Default is 0 (disabled), range is any number 0 or greater. Requires version 7 or later.
External Power Wakeup
Determines whether or not the device will wake up when plugged into an external power source. Default is 0 (off), set to 1 to enable. Requires version 7 or later.
Parameters: Hardware
Accelerometer Threshold
Sets the speed threshold for waking up with accelerometer movement. Default is 0 (disabled), range is 1-127, with lower numbers being more sensitive to movement triggering the action. Requires version 10 or later.
LED Mask
This setting allows you to enable or disable specific LEDs.
Low Battery Off
The device will always enter storage mode when low on power, and this setting determines if it is a permanent (1 - on) or temporary (0 - off) switch. Default value is off, and device will power down until next time it is plugged in.
Parameters: Report Formatting
Report Format
Allows you to configure the size of the packets sent in the reports, default is 0 (private small GSE packet), other options are 1 (public 10 byte packet) and 2 (public 18 byte high-resolution packet). Requires version 6 or later.
Include Seconds
Turn on to transmit seconds with location reports, which typically are 2-minute resolution. Default is 0 (disabled), set to 1 to enable. Requires version 5 or later.
Include Altitude
Transmit altitude with position reports, default value is 1, options are 0 (don’t include) and 1 (include).
Parameters: Misc
Cache Reports
Allows the device to cache (store until transmitted) up to 30 reports when GPS is available, but Iridium connection is not. Default 0 (off)- failed transmission reports will be discarded, set to 1 to enable.
Require AES MT
If on, discards all non-encrypted mobile-terminated messages, when off, accepts both encrypted and non-encrypted messages. Default is 0 (off), set to 1 to turn on.
